The Unit of Measurement Is the Episode
Seasons have nothing to do with it, and that is the first thing to settle, because a short drama is not counted in seasons. The definition on the record is narrow, describing vertical 9:16 series built from episodes of one to two minutes, usually www.verticalmicrodrama.net/series/bound-by-vendetta-sleeping-with-the-enemy 20 to 100 episodes per story. For Western-made episodes, TheWrap records a tighter band still, 60 to 100 seconds apiece. Everything therefore rests on whether you mean a single episode or the whole story. A whole series can outlast a feature film, and the longest outlast two. One episode is shorter than most pop songs. Each total run time in this piece is my own multiplication of a published episode count by that published episode-length range. Since no app I checked publishes a total run time, nobody can hand you one.
Episode Counts Range From 30 to 100
Episode length barely changes between titles, while episode counts swing wildly. Over twelve series I was able to check against an official app page, the counts run from 30 at the low end to exactly 100 at the high end. With 30, GoodShort’s My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen is the short one, close to the floor of the 20-to-100 definition. At 100, the long one is GoodShort’s The Dragon King’s Return, sitting precisely on the ceiling. The ground between the two is held by ReelShort, which gives The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband at 60, Not the Bride He Wanted at 57, Love on the Sidelines at 64, Fated to the Alpha at 70, True Luna at 61 including its trailer and Breaking the Ice at 70 including its trailer. Married at First Sight is recorded at 89 on its ReelShort movie page, while GoodShort gives Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter 64, Three Strikes, Dad’s Out 65 and Kidnapped by the Mafia 86. All twelve added together come to 816 episodes, an average of 68 per series and a median of roughly 64. The real finding is the clustering: most short series sit in the sixties, and the extremes are exceptions.
Why Certain Counts Deserve an Asterisk
Episode counts are slipperier than they look, and anyone quoting one should say which page it came from. For The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband, third-party listings give 49 and 120, though its own official page says 60, and neither third-party figure belongs anywhere near a calculation. Married at First Sight shows the same problem inside a single site, where the movie page reports 89 episodes and another page for the same series reports 90. For a viewer that one-episode gap is trivial, for anyone claiming precision it is fatal. Two of the counts above, True Luna at 61 and Breaking the Ice at 70, are flagged explicitly as including the trailer, so the story proper runs one episode shorter in each case. I have kept the published figure rather than quietly subtracting, because silently adjusting a number is how bad data spreads. No count is a permanent property of the show; it is a label attached to one page on one date.
The Arithmetic, Spelled Out
Here, so you can redo it or reject it, is the whole method. Take one minute an episode as the floor and two minutes an episode as the ceiling, apply them to the published count, and a range appears. For a 60-episode series that gives 60 to 120 minutes, or one to two hours. For the 100-episode Dragon King’s Return it gives 100 to 200 minutes, so between one hour forty and three hours twenty. TheWrap’s 60-to-100-second band narrows things for a Western-made show: the same 100 episodes then work out to between 100 and 167 minutes. Not one number here comes from ReelShort, GoodShort or anyone else, and none accounts for recaps, intros or the trailers a couple of the counts include. They are estimates built on two published numbers, and I would rather show the working than fake a precision the sources do not support.
The Twelve Documented Series, Timed Out

Below, the table applies that multiplication to every title above. Every count comes from the show’s own app page, while the run times are mine. Treat each range as a floor and a ceiling, not a prediction, as real episodes land somewhere inside it. Less rides on the platform column than people assume, since the format definition is the same on both.
| Series title | App platform | Episodes | Estimated total run time (my own calculation) |
|---|---|---|---|
| My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen | GoodShort | 30 | 30 to 60 min |
| Not the Bride He Wanted | ReelShort | 57 | 57–114 min |
| The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband | ReelShort | 60 | 60 to 120 min |
| True Luna | ReelShort | 61 including the trailer | 61 to 122 min |
| Love on the Sidelines | ReelShort | 64 | 64 to 128 min |
| Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter | GoodShort | 64 | 64–128 min |
| Three Strikes, Dad’s Out | GoodShort | 65 | 65–130 min |
| Fated to the Alpha | ReelShort | 70 | 70 to 140 min |
| Breaking the Ice | ReelShort | 70 including the trailer | 70–140 min |
| Kidnapped by the Mafia | GoodShort | 86 | 86–172 min |
| Married at First Sight | ReelShort | 89 on the movie page | 89 to 178 min |
| The Dragon King’s Return | GoodShort | 100 | 100 to 200 min |
Two things leap out of that last column. Of the twelve, only one could fill a single hour and stop, and only one could stretch past three hours. Everything else is a two-hour film’s worth of story delivered in sixty-odd pieces.
What a Binge Actually Costs in Time
Pure run time is the easy part of the sum, and the misleading part. A 60-episode short drama at 60 to 120 minutes fills a single evening, comfortably shorter than one long blockbuster. Stack the whole twelve-title table and you get 816 episodes, which by the same multiplication is roughly 14 to 27 hours, or two to four working days. What that total leaves out is everything between the episodes. Free opening episodes run out fast, and every unlock after that is a tap, a coin balance or a rewarded ad, and ReelShort’s own blog says one ad unlocks two premium episodes. That rate turns fifty paid episodes into twenty-five ads, and no company publishes how long those ads run, so I am not going to invent a number. Anyone who watches short dramas online at a steady pace usually finds the real evening runs longer than the arithmetic says. Buying your way past the interruptions means a weekly pass, about $19.99 in the US App Store as of September 2026, though prices vary by country and platform and change.
What Two Minutes Does to the Writing
Far from being just a stat, length here is the script’s structure. When an episode runs 60 to 100 seconds, the writer gets room for roughly one beat and one reversal, and the reversal has to land on the final shot. That is why a hook arrives before you have settled, and why cliffhangers feel relentless rather than occasional. TheWrap reports $150,000 to $300,000 per series and shoots of eight to ten days, so production is working to that same clock. Nobody books leisurely scenes into a ten-day shoot that has to yield seventy of them. Part of that shape is the paywall: usually the first eight to ten episodes are free, and ReelShort’s blog gives five to fifteen, putting the first real decision point about ten minutes in. A 64-episode show such as Blood and Bones of the Disowned Daughter therefore has to seed a betrayal, a reversal and a payoff inside about the run time of one film, chopped into pieces that each have to earn the next tap.
Picking a Series by Its Length
Reading the numbers turns picking into something practical rather than guesswork. If you want one sitting and a clean finish, look for counts in the thirties, as My Stolen Crown: I Am the Dragon Queen demonstrates at 30 episodes. If you want something to last a week of commutes, the sixties are the sweet spot, and that is where most short dramas sit in any case. More subplots come with a count near 100, and so does a bill that grows in step. Before you start, look up the count on the show’s own page rather than a fan listing, since a gap between 49 and 120 for one title is exactly the error that ruins a plan. The multiplication is yours to do, because it takes five seconds and nobody else is doing it for you. The whole trick to knowing how long a short series will really hold you is right there.
